The HKMC Construction Mediation Division (“CMD”) is one of the sector-specific groups of HKMC concentrating its mediation activities in construction industry and areas relating to work contracts. The CMD is formed by a group of professionals and experienced mediators, and is providing voluntary mediation seminars to the government, professional firms, and tertiary institutions to introduce and to spread a culture of using mediation to resolve disputes amicably among parties, as an alternative to litigation.

This competition is to raise awareness of the role of the designers in helping the industry achieve zero fatalities and injuries. The award is given in recognition of construction industry designer / design team that has contributed the most by design, to eliminating, reducing and mitigating the health and safety risks during construction, cleaning and operation, maintenance and eventual modification / removal of the asset (i.e. for the whole life cycle).
